Many of our guests rave about Kodiak Island’s natural beauty, its unbelievable fishing and wildlife viewing, and the unparalleled remote comfort and amenities of Zachar Bay Lodge. | Marty and Linda Eaton
Marty and Linda and their three sons invite you to be their guests at Zachar Bay Lodge. The lodge started in 1989 as an old cannery into which the Eatons and crew have since poured their labor and love, turning it into one of the most charming and beautiful lodges in Alaska. Their oldest son, Andy, is the mechanical genius behind the many self-sufficiency systems that make the remote lodge as functional and comfortable as any home on the grid. Their other two sons, Glen and Kyle, are both bush pilots and each fly one of the lodge’s two floatplanes.
| Dawn and Jim Hahn
The Hahns have worked and lived at the lodge since the beginning. Dawn, our indispensable and indefatigable chef, takes great pride in preparing fresh, delicious, home-cooked meals and serving them family-style to our guests and crew. Jim, the senior guide, exemplifies the highest standard of character, knowledge, and experience in a guide. Jim fluently combines his passion for exceeding his guests’ expectations with ethical guiding principles and a deep respect for the environment.
| John King
John has been guiding for Zachar Bay Lodge since 2001 and he guided on Kodiak Island for many years before that. John’s fishing experience and professionalism is unsurpassed. As a river guide John takes guests to remote streams for salmon and offers fly-fishing instruction. As a boat captain he takes guests out to where the biggest halibut and king salmon lurk.
| Ian Jansma
Ian has been working at Zachar Bay Lodge since 2001. Working closely with Jim Hahn and the Eatons over the years, Ian has become skilled in all aspects of wilderness guiding and sport fishing. Ian greatly enjoys sharing his experience and passion for nature with our guests. He takes particular delight in working with our more adventurous guests to create custom wilderness adventures of all sorts.
