Overview
Spotted Bear Ranch is located deep in the woods of remote Northwest Montana, in between Glacier National Park and the Bob Marshall Wilderness. This adventurous outpost sits on a bluff overlooking the South Fork of the Flathead River, considered by many to be one of the most secluded and pristine rivers in the world. Known as one of the last strongholds for native Westslope Cutthroat trout, the South Fork pours straight out of the Bob Marshall Wilderness area. It’s the kind of water sportsmen dream of.
Spotted Bear Ranch’s specialty is dry fly fishing for Montana’s native trout – the Westslope Cutthroat. These wild trout are plentiful, hungry and hard fighting. Other fish species native to this watershed includes the feisty, endangered Bull Trout (which commonly exceed 30 inches) and Mountain Whitefish. The season begins mid-June and continues through September. In addition to the South Fork, fish nearby tributaries, streams, creeks, and mountain lakes. The friendly and knowledgeable Spotted Bear Ranch guides are often complemented on their patience and teaching abilities.
