Overview

What began as a fly-in family cabin has developed into a full scale family run fishing lodge. Northwoods prides themselves on providing the highest level of quality and service to clientele. Over 75% of their business is repeat customers, some of whom have been coming to stay with them for over 15 years. To maintain the highest levels of service and satisfaction, Northwoods limits occupancy to a maximum of 12 clients at any one time.

The Fishing Lodge
The main lodge covers nearly 5,000 square feet and includes two lounging/sitting rooms for swapping stories with friends old and new, a formal dining room and a large recreation/game room. Northwoods offers a screened in porch and a beautiful outdoor porch patio that sits at the water’s edge. An outdoor Jacuzzi tub is available for relaxing after a long day of battling powerful salmon while enjoying the midnight sun.

Your Fishing Experience
You will be fishing some of the most productive waters in the State of Alaska. All five species of Pacific Salmon are available along with trophy-size Rainbow Trout, delicate Arctic Grayling, and aggressive Northern Pike. The Susitna and Yentna Rivers boast some of the strongest returns of King, Silver and Sockeye salmon in Alaska. Depending on when your trip occurs, you may be able to target multiple species of salmon at the same time. Fishing is done directly from the lodge in a fleet of custom-built river boats. Unlike many other deluxe Alaskan lodges, Northwoods Lodge is not bound by expensive and sometimes postponed daily flights to fishing areas. These are often hampered due to inclement weather leaving the angler unable to access the fishing areas.

The Great Food
Your typical day at Northwoods will begin with a hearty breakfast served buffet style that allows you to have as much, or as little as you desire. After breakfast, you will be met by your guide and will board one of the custom vessels for the short and scenic trip to your fishing destination. Northwoods lodge is surrounded by dozens of “hot spots”, meaning you will never have to travel far to find good fishing. Lunches are taken with you and can be enjoyed on the water or a quiet river bar. You will return to the lodge around 5:00pm for an exquisite gourmet dinner and generous conversation. After dinner, you can elect to try a few more hours of fishing, enjoy stimulating conversation with new friends, or relax near the creek with your favorite book.

Northwoods’ Guiding Philosophy
To maintain the highest degree of quality and customer service, Northwoods will not shuffle clients between different guides throughout their trip like other lodges, but rather allow you to be with “your” guide throughout your time at the lodge. This allows the one person to be primarily responsible for the quality and satisfaction of your time and ensures that your every need will be addressed. Your guide will be responsible for your transport to the fishing area, your personal comfort and well being, the selection of the appropriate gear and tackle for the day’s fishing needs and the cleaning and care of your catch.
