OverviewBelize River Lodge rests quietly on the banks of the Belize Olde River, amidst a lush green tropical setting. Balmy breezes, rich with bird song, drift among the private mahogany cottages. This beautiful jungle lodge can accommodate up to 16 people. The lodge’s location allows for a wide range of fishing opportunities as it has easy access to a few different rivers, several creeks and very easy access to the FLAT, mangrove cayes, and the Barrier Reef.
Belize River Lodge is located in Central Belize, a region of Belize that offers a very diverse fishing environment. The FLATS, channels, cayes, reef, mangrove islands, Belize River, Sibun River, Manatee River, Black Creek - and several other creeks and lagoons in between, are the areas fished from the lodge in a normal five-day fishing package. This is a very large territory with a great variety of fishing conditions, fish species and scenery. Game fish species generally found here include the main four sports species - PERMIT, BONEFISH, TARPON, and SNOOK; and for anglers interested in more variety, Cubera Snapper, Jacks, Barracuda, Ladyfish, Tripletail, Grouper and others are also available. Visual Saltwater Grand Slams and Back Country Grand Slams occur every day. Landed Slams will depend upon your skill, the fish, and a little luck!
The fishing is done from comfortable 23' fiberglass Pangas, the only skiffs that can truly handle the waters of Belize. There are usually two anglers to a skiff with an English-speaking, experienced and licensed guide. Whether you are new to saltwater fishing or an experienced angler, the guides will help to make your trip a memorable fishing vacation. Tell your Belize fishing guide what your desires are for the day and he will try to fulfill your every request. All of the lodge guides are Belizeans experienced in saltwater fly-fishing and spin casting. They know the waters of Belize and are friendly, talented, hard working, patient, and very capable of instructing, whether you are a fly caster or spin fisher.
While looking for your saltwater adventure, remember to enjoy the scenery around you - many species of birds and other wildlife such as manatees, howler monkeys, iguanas, turtles, and occasionally crocodiles may be seen while fishing from the lodge. While you search for your trophy or cast for your Grand Slam, be sure to absorb the natural beauty of Belize while enjoying your fishing vacation in the Caribbean. Belize River Lodge is known for excellent service with an old world charm! | ||
